Frequently Asked Questions for Pilots
How are pilot interviews conducted?
DayJet will review all pilot profiles submitted online. Pilots meeting our minimum qualifications will be contacted by phone to assess interest and qualifications. After these initial conversations, we'll invite qualified candidates to a central site for in-person interviews and assessments. Final selection will take place at, or soon after, this interview round.
What company benefits will pilots receive?
In addition to competitive salaries and unparalleled work/lifestyle benefits, DayJet pilots will receive equity/stock options, a company sponsored 401K plan, medical/dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, paid holidays, paid time off, and ongoing professional development.
What is the minimum flight experience required for a DayJet pilot?
DayJet minimum pilot requirements include: 3,000 hours total flight time (excluding helicopter, simulator and flight engineer time); 1,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC); 1,000 hours multi-engine; and 500 hours turbo-jet PIC.
How do you train pilots?
Company indoctrination, initial Part 135 training, Eclipse systems ground school, crew resource management, medical emergency procedures and customer service training are conducted at DayJet training facilities.
Where are you located?
DayJet offers service in the Southeast. Pilot positions are based in Gainesville and Boca Raton.
Do you fly with one or two pilots?
While the Eclipse 500 very light jet aircraft will be certified for single pilot operations, DayJet will initially operate each aircraft with two pilots.
What are the expected flight and duty hours for pilots?
At DayJet, we understand how important it is for you to have a predictable work schedule that allows you to build a life outside of work. We will abide by the flight and duty time limitations for Part 135 on-demand operations. Pilots will be scheduled on a two-shift system, Monday through Friday. The first shift will run from approximately 0500 until 1500, and the second shift will run from 1300 until 2300. Shifts will be rotated and assignments to aircraft movements will be designed to provide a fair and equitable lifestyle for every DayJet pilot.
What type of aircraft will pilots operate?
DayJet will own, manage and operate a fleet of Eclipse 500 very light jets. The Eclipse 500 jet offers significant improvements in operational efficiencies by leveraging innovative manufacturing techniques, highly efficient engines, and an unprecedented level of aircraft integration to introduce unparalleled price/performance and safety for small jet aircraft. The twin turbofan jet cruises at a brisk 425 mph and is engineered for safety. The all-glass, digital cockpit introduces a level of sophistication and safety that is commensurate with commercial airliners, while advanced integrated avionics decrease pilot workload.
How often will pilots be away from home base?
DayJet pilots will have a predictable schedule that allows them to return home every day. Weather or maintenance requirements may cause a crew to remain overnight, but that would be the exception, not the rule.
Are you flying under FAA Part 135 regulations?
Yes, DayJet will own, manage and operate its own fleet of very light jet aircraft as an on-demand air carrier under existing FAA Part 135 on-demand regulations, upon receipt of all necessary government operating authority.
What does it mean to be a DayJet pilot?
It means being part of something far bigger than yourself and being part of history by introducing a new regional transportation paradigm that will help drive the next wave of corporate productivity and regional development. Being a DayJet pilot also means being able to enjoy a life outside of work. We believe the core benefits we deliver to our customers, should also accrue to our employees.
